THE AWESOMENESS OF GOD

“The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin …” (Exodus 34:6-7).

Our Bible text can be capsulated in one of the attributes of God called LOVE. God’s love is simply awesome and incomparable. We don’t stand a chance before God if not for His mercy, grace, and long-suffering. In fact, most of us would had been destroyed long ago. God is often restrained by love even when instant death is deserving. When we consider the level of man’s rebellion against God in our world today, which to me surpasses that of the Sodom and Gomorrah, you will agree with me that God will be well justified if He decides to destroy us all and create a new set of people. However, despite our disobedience, He kept loving us, all thanks to JESUS! The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to Take God’s mercy for granted or His quietness as being ignorant of our actions, because nothing is hidden from Him, and one day He will show no mercy because mercy expires. May we never continue in sin until His mercy expires in Jesus name.
